An ironic weekend at Lowes Motor Speedway. The underdogs have prevailed, with Mike Bliss on Saturday night, and now with David Reutimann winning the rain shorten Coca Cola 600.
1st off congrats to both and their crew chiefs for making the winning call. What makes it more ironic for me I think. I live just 45 miles northeast of the speedway. And in the last 24 hours, there hasn't been any rain here. I have sat glued to the tv (when not napping lol) and watched rain down the road. Sunshine here with mixed clouds, but no rain.
I feel sorry for the fans, they are the ones that really lose in a rain shorten race. As Darrell mentions during the broadcast. Back in 1980, I was sitting there in the 1st turn, and when I got wet for the third time. I had enough and headed home. My expenses were lot less than those who have to travel several miles. And pay for lodging. So I say to Lowes Motor Speedway, come on, you can do better than a 10% discount for the fall race.
Time to move on to Dover, cya at the races.
God Bless all of you.
